Westin Josun Busan: My Haeundae Secret Escape, Raved About!

Okay, so I just got back from The Westin Josun Busan, nestled right on Haeundae Beach. And honestly, my stay in the Executive Ocean View Room wasn’t just about soaking in the views – though, spoiler, they were pretty great. This trip was about the whole experience, from check-in to chilling out. Here’s my honest review of what you can expect from the room, the lounge, and everything in between.

First Impressions: The Westin Josun Busan’s Quiet Corner on Haeundae

The hotel’s location is actually a huge plus. It’s tucked away at the far eastern end of Haeundae Beach. What does that mean? Fewer crowds, less city noise, and more of that calm ocean sound. On one side, you’ve got Dongbaek Island, which has these lovely, pine-covered trails and some really nice coastal views. Straight ahead, the open sea stretches out towards Mipo – very peaceful.

Even though you’re only minutes from the main attractions, it felt genuinely removed from the hustle. Like finding your own quiet spot in Busan. For me, that balance of being easy to get to, but also feeling super calm, really made The Westin Josun Busan stand out. It felt less like just booking a hotel room, and more like choosing a slower, more relaxed pace for a few days.

Executive Ocean View Room: Clean, Thoughtful, and Yes, That View

Let’s be real, the view is a major draw here. You get a full, unobstructed look at Haeundae Beach, the edge of Dongbaek Island, and the calm waters around Mipo Pier. If you’re someone who likes catching sunrises or seeing that golden hour glow on the water, this room delivers.

Inside, everything felt pretty thoughtfully put together. There’s a panoramic floor-to-ceiling window that wraps around, really maximizing the ocean connection. The Heavenly king bed had quality linen and a mattress that felt supportive – I slept well.

For unwinding, there’s a deep bathtub that’s good for a quiet soak, plus a separate shower. They also had Westin’s signature coffee machine and some nice teaware. Complimentary bottled water and wine glasses were a practical touch.

There’s also a dedicated writing desk and a comfortable chair, which was nice for just sitting by the window with a cup of tea. A spacious wardrobe, soft slippers, plush bathrobes, and a hairdryer covered all the essentials.

The room doesn’t shout “luxury” in an over-the-top way. It felt more like quiet comfort. It’s the kind of space you could genuinely look forward to coming back to at the end of the day to just relax.

Executive Lounge at The Westin Josun Busan: My Take on Whether It’s Worth It

In short? Yes.

Daytime – Tea and Quiet

The Executive Lounge at The Westin Josun Busan is bright, generally calm, and quite spacious, with good ocean views. You can stop by anytime for complimentary cookies, nuts, tea, juice, and seasonal fruits. It’s definitely not a meal, but it was perfect for a quick break or a quiet morning read.

Breakfast – Fresh and Focused

You can have breakfast in the Executive Lounge or at the 1F buffet. I usually opted for the lounge; it felt more relaxed and a bit more curated. They had fresh salad greens, good quality cold cuts, eggs made to order, yogurt, decent pastries, and coffee. Everything tasted fresh, not like bulk catering. Even little touches, like how the butter and jam were presented, made it feel a bit more special for breakfast. If you prefer a peaceful start over a massive variety, this is probably a better choice.

Evening Happy Hour – More Than Expected

From 5:30–7:30 PM, the lounge had its happy hour. They offered a good selection of red and white wines, draft beer, juices, and sparkling water. The light food selection was surprisingly substantial – I often found it enough to comfortably replace dinner. Think grilled vegetables, decent cheese platters, fresh fruit (the grapefruit and kiwis were especially good!), various salads, and warm items like quiche or small pasta dishes.

Overall, it felt like one of the more polished happy hours I’ve experienced at hotels in Korea. Everything seemed balanced, not greasy or overly heavy. Enough to feel satisfied, but still leave you feeling good.

Wellness Facilities at The Westin Josun Busan: What Stood Out

The Westin Josun Busan has some solid wellness amenities that add to the stay.

Pool

The indoor pool was quite peaceful, seemed impeccably clean, and was rarely crowded during my visits. There was always a lifeguard on duty. The seating around the pool felt more like a quiet spa area than a typical city hotel pool.

Gym

The gym itself is compact but well-equipped. A nice touch is that all the cardio machines face the sea, so you get those views while you’re working out. A morning run with the ocean in full view was definitely a good way to start the day.

Sauna (Complimentary for Executive Guests)

This was a definite highlight. Normally priced at ₩50,000 per entry, access to the sauna is complimentary if you’re in an Executive room. They provide a full spa kit: a comfy cotton robe, a headband, fresh towels, socks—even bottled water. The locker rooms were spotless. And the serene lounge space inside the sauna looks directly out to the ocean. It’s easy to just relax there for a while.

Quick tip: Use the sauna’s shower facilities. They’re much more private and felt a bit more luxurious than the pool’s locker area.

Service at The Westin Josun Busan: Consistent and Attentive, Not Overbearing

From checking in to checking out, the staff at The Westin Josun Busan were consistently professional and polite. Any request I had – whether for extra towels or adjusting the room scent – was handled quickly. Housekeeping was diligent, refreshing sheets and bedding every two days (or upon request), which kept things feeling fresh.

What stood out was their quiet efficiency. No unnecessary fuss, no overly grand gestures, just consistent, thoughtful service that made the stay feel easy and comfortable.
